A high-performing elastomer, peroxide-cured EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is one of the most commonly used elastomers for seals and gaskets because of its excellent resistance to weather, ozone and UV rays. EPDM is most commonly used in applications where there is significant environmental exposure such as in the automotive and marine industries. EPDM is also good for chemical-based fluids such as anti-freeze, synthetic detergents, acetone, boric acid, ethanol, formaldehyde, and silver nitrate. EPDM should not be used in petroleum-based applications.
